Great Waldingfield. John Button, rector of Chilton, and Geoffrey Platfote of the same village, demise to William Wystewe and others an acre of pasture lately John Syday's of Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld), dyer. Dated at Chilton, 11 August, 21 Hen. VIII (1529).

Indenture dated 16 Sept., 24 Hen. VIII, witnesseth that Robert Rudlond of East Mersea and West Mersea (Marsey, Essex), hath bargained and sold to Richard Dogett and Edmond Tod lands, pastures, and woods called Wombysley in Great Waldingfield (Great Waldyngfeld). [Much rubbed.]

John Innolde of Sudbury and Margaret his wife, in consideration of the receipt of £21, bargain and sell to Robert Crane, senior, and Joan his wife a tenement called 'Lagardes' and 'Chapmans' with two closes and croftes, paying annually to the lords of Waldingfield Hall Carbonells (Waldingfeld halle) 5s. 3d. Dated 6 June, 25 Hen. VIII. (See MS. Ch. Suffolk 380.)

Indenture made 16 Sept., 24 Hen. VIII (1532), by which Richard Dogett and Edmund Tod purchases from Robert Rudlond of East Mersea and West Mersea (Marsey) certain lands, pastures, and woods in Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld). [Another copy of Ch. Suffolk 504, mutilated and rubbed.]

John Springe of Hitcham (Hecheham), esq. demises to Robert Crane, sen., esq., sir William Waldegrave, kt., and others, one field of arable and pasture land called Upstrete crofte in Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld). Dated at Great Waldingfield or Little Waldingfield (Waldingfeld) aforesaid, 12 March, 25 Hen. VIII (1534), and signed by Spring.

Indenture made 20 January, .. Hen. VIII, between John Innold of Sudbury of the one part and Robert Crane of the other, witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of £20 the said John sells to the said Robert certain land in Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld). [Nearly effaced.]

Grant by sir William Drury, kt., and others to Felicia Peyton, widow, an annual pension of 22 marks, arising from the manor of Badley (Peyton Hail and Baddelees) in Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld). [Copy on paper, temp. Hen. VIII, date omitted.]

Indenture made 1 September, 34 Hen. VIII (1542), by which Robert Crane of Chilton, in consideration of the receipt of £32, grants to John Wyncoll of Little Waldingfield (Little Waldingfeld) a messuage, &c. in Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld).

Indenture made 1 August, 37 Hen. VIII (1545), by which John Innold, in consideration of the receipt of £8, sells to Robert Crane of Chilton his lands, tenements, &c. in Great Waldingfield (Moche Waldingfeld).

Copy on paper of a lease made 15 April, 7 Ed. VI (1553), by which Robert Crane of Chilton, esq., grants to John Kendall of Great Waldingfield (Moche Waldingfeld), clothmaker, a close and croft in Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld) for 10 years at an annual rent of 53s. 4d.

Indenture made 7 December, 3 Edward VI (1549), by which Edward Colman of Great Waldingfield or Little Waldingfield (Waldingfeld), gent., for certain considerations, sells unto William Cordell of Long Melford, gent., certain houses and lands lying in Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld ) and Little Waldingfield (Little Waldingfeld) and Edwardstone (Edwardeston). Endorsed with a memorandum of payment of £200, 23 Nov. 4 Edw. VI.

Indenture dated 28 November, 3 and 4 of Philip and Mary (1556), by which Robert Crane of Chilton, lessee of lands under the seal of the dissolved house of Crutched Friars, London, demises to James (?) of Great Waldingfield (Moche Waldingfeld) a piece of pasture and wood in Great Waldingfield (Moche Waldyngfeld).

Anne Wyncoll of Little Waldingfield (Little Waldingfeld) remits and quit-claims to Robert Fenninge, clothworker of the same all her right in a messuage or tenement called Hammondes in Little Waldingfield (Little Waldingfeld). Dated 15 November, 30 Elizabeth (1588).

Lease from Robert Crane, esq. to John Baldewyn of Coddenham (Codenham) of a piece of land in Coddenham (Codenham) called Benecroft, etc.; to hold for 20 years at an annual rent of 6/10d.; 21 Apr. 4 Hen. VIII (1513)

Henry Wilbockys, John Hacon, and others demise to sir Humphrey Wingfeld, kt., and others 18 messuages and certain land in the villages of Coddenham (Codenham), Creeting St Mary (Cretyng St. Mary), Creeting All Saints (Cretyng All Saints), Creeting St Olave (Cretyng St. Olave), Crowfield (Crowfeld) and Gosbeck (Gosbacke). Dated 1 [March?] 25 Henry VIII (1534).

⟨Coddenham (?).⟩ John and Philip Bore quit-claim all right &c. in a certain lease of lands, &c., made 20 Dec. 19 Henry VIII by Anne Edgare in her widowhood, and before she intermarried with William Waller, esq., deceased, to William Bore, for 30 years, to Edmund Gossenold for the remainder of the term. Dated 14 Feb., 27 Hen. VIII (1536).

Indenture dated 5 Feb., 29 Hen. VIII (1538), by which sir Humphrey Wyngfeld, kt., demises to Robert Crane, esq., all the lands &c. called Mimotts of the manor of Creeting All Saints (Creting) lying in Coddenham (Codenham), for 19 years, paying annually £4 10s. Signed by Wyngfeld.

Indenture made 20 November, 38 Hen. VIII (1546), by which John Suthwell of Darsham (Darham in the co. of Suffolk), esq., sells to Robert Crane of Chilton (Chilton in the co. of Suffolk), for £392 9s. 10d., his lands, messuages, &c. in the parishes of Coddenham (Codenham), Creeting St Mary (Creeting St. Mary), Creeting All Saints, Creeting St Olave (Creeting St. Olave), Crowfield (Crowfeld), Gosbeck (Gosbach) and Hemingstone (Edmyngston).

Robert Crane of Chilton, esq., grants and sells to Anne Talmage a close called Bulleyarde in Coddenham (Codenham), with yearly quit-rent of 2d to him and his heirs as lord of the manor of Flude Hall with Waltham (Fladehall) in Little Stonham (Little Stoneham). Dated 20 January, 2 Elizabeth (1560).

Sir William Brooke, kt., lord Cobham, and others recite an indenture dated 14 July, 28 Elizabeth (1586), and by this present deed at the request of Robert Crane demise to him the said Robert certain lands, tenements &c. called or known by the name of Bacons, Thedwards, Cooks of Cranes' marshes, and Gybbes in the parishes of Coddenham (Codenham) &c. within the county of Suffolk. Dated 20 May, 29 Elizabeth (1587).

Augustus Campe of Woodbridge, yeoman grants to John Talemage of Coddenham (Codenham), yeoman for a a certain sum of money a piece of arable land in Coddenham (Codenham). Dated 14 October, 32 Elizabeth (1590).
