GLOUCESTER (City of). Indenture made 25 Feb., 21 Ed. IV, by which Thomas Saundres of Brystowe, gent., gives to Thomas Morgan and Thomas Kyngescote a tenement in Smythestrete in the town of Gloucester. [English]

TEWKESBURY. Richard Whytehed , brother of John Whytehed of Worcester, vicar of Fayreford , quit-claims to William Tayllor of Tewkesbury the whole of half a burgage in Tewkesbury. Dated at Tewkesbury the Thursday next after the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, 8 Hen. VI.

Writ of K. Henry IV to his escheator of the co. of Gloucester, concerning the election of William Wendovere, canon, as abbot of Oseney, and commanding a restitution of the temporalities in his bailiwick. Dated at Westminster, 16 March, 5 Hen. IV.

STOW and BIBURY, co. Glouo. A fragment of an episcopal confirmation to the abbey of Oseney of the churches of Stow and Bibury, formerly belonging to the church of St. George. Dated Sept. 14. Temp. Hen. IV or V.

An acknowledgment that William Wenlok, prior of the cathedral of St. Mary, Worcester , has received of the abbot and convent of Oseney 30s., annual pension from the church of Bybrye. Dated 4 Nov., 1495.

Inquisition taken at Tetbury, co. Gloucester, before the King's Escheator to ascertain the value of the possessions of the abbot and convent of Oseney at Bibury, in the church etc. valued at £30 clear. Dated Aug., 1482, 22 Ed. IV.

Letters patent of Robert Johnson, bachelor of laws, official of the bishop of Worcester , stating that at the request of Richard Marshall, S.T.P., dean of Oxford , he caused the Worcester episcopal archives to be searched on 14 Jan. 1555, by Wm. Warmsey, notary public, who found: 4 ⟨July or August⟩ 1555.

• (i) Ordination of Silvester, bp. of Worcester , for the churches of Wotton and Preston-upon-Stour, appropriated to the abbey of Tewkesbury, assessing the church at £34, and providing for pensions from Wotton of 13/- to the bishop, 6/8 to the Dean and chapter, ¼ to the archdeacon, and from Preston 7/-, ¾, and ¼ respectively. Dated 15 April, 1555.
• (ii) License of Henry VII to Sir John Mordaunt, kt., William Grevill, sergeant-at-law, and Walter Rowdon , to grant the advowson of Wotton to Tewksbury. Dated 12 May (rectius 12 March), 1497.
• (iii) Letters patent of Maurice lord Berkeley, proclaiming the recovery of right against him in the advowson. Dated 7 July, 1504.
• (iv) Confirmation by the prior &c. of S. Mary’s, Worcester, 3 May, 1555.
• (v) Confirmation by Thomas Rowthell, archdeacon of Gloucester , 10 June, 1555
