II (28 Sept. 1377), by which Roger the prior and convent of Dodnash demise to John Cubbuc (Cukkuc?), sen., and John Cubbuc (Cukkuc?), jun., lands in Tattingstone (Matyngstone [ recte Tatyngstone]), Bentley (Benteleye), &c. for 9 years, paying annually 6s. 8d. [Mutilated.]

John Gernegan grants to his father Peter Gernegan and Elenor his wife the moiety of the manor of Somerleyton (Somerlestone), with a mill etc. to hold for their lives paying annually 40s. Dated at Somerleyton (Somerletone) ... (c. 1320-30.)

Coddenham (?) Edmund de St. Clano of Coddenham (Codenham) grants to the prior and convent of the church of the Holy Trinity of Gyppewic', and their successors and assigns, that they may have a free way with horses and carts and of every kind of animal in the whole of his way which lies before his gate, which extends itself from the tenement of John Wistlepays towards the tenement formerly Ralph Sundai's, without any impediment. Dated at Coddenham (Codenham) the Thursday next after the feast of the Circumcision, 16 Ed. III (2 Jan. 1343).

Indenture made between the prior of the Holy Trinity, Gipp', and the convent, of the one part, and William Crane of Creeting St Mary (Creting St. Mary) of the other, witnesseth that the said prior and convent have granted to farm to the said William all their lands, tenements, &c. in the villages of Creeting St Mary (Creting St. Mary), Creeting All Saints (Creting All Saints), Creeting St Olave (Creting St. Olave), Earl Stonham (Stonham Earl), Stonham Aspal (Stonham Antegan), Coddenham (Codenham), and Crowfield (Creffeld), for 12 years, paying annually six marks of silver. Dated the Sunday next after the feast of St. Michael, 21 Rich. II (30 Sept. 1397).

Appropriation of the church of Theberton (Thebirtone) to the abbot and convent of Leystone, Suffolk, by Henry, bp. of Norwich and Nicholas, the prior, and chapter of Norwich; the old abbey having been destroyed by an inundation of the sea and the new having been burned excepting the charters. Dated 1 May, 1380.

CORTON. John, the abbot, and convent of Leystone indemnify Thomas, bp. of Norwich, and his successors, and the cathedral church of Norwich, by reason of the appropriation of the parochial church of Corton (Cortone) of the patronage at the abbey for first fruits, an annual pension etc. Dated at Leiston (Leystone), 10 July, 1367.

Inquisition of the value of the church of Corton (Gorton), co. Suffolk, at the command of Henry, bp, of Norwich, which church had been appropriated to the use of the abbot and convent of Leystone; reported to the Bishop by Robert de Suttone, canon of St. Pauls and rector of Eyke (Eyk). Dated 30 September, 1389.

An agreement for the securing to the cathedral church of Norwich an annual pension of 4s., from the church of Theberton (Thebirton), appropriated to the abbot and convent of Leystone. Dated at Leiston (Leystone) 15 April, 1381.

William, the abbot, and the convent of Leystone grant to Thomas [or J....] ... and [ Richolda?] his wife, or 5 marks and 5 .... , four pieces of land which were Edmund the chaplain's lying in the vill of Knodishall (Knoteshale) (?). (c. 1320-30?) [Mutilated and partly effaced.]

William, prior of Mendham (Mendlesham), grants to Robert Dunken of Wetheringsett (Wedringset) one piece of land lying in Mendlesham. Dated at Mendlesham the Sunday next after the feast of St. Peter ad vincula, 27 Ed. III (4 Aug. 1353).

SUDBURY (College of St. Gregory at). Bond given by the warden and brethren of the college of St. Gregory at Sudbury, to pay to Henry, bp. of Norwich, and his successors, an annual pension of two marks, for the first fruits of their church. Dated at Norwich on the feast of St. Luke, evang. (18 Oct.), 1381.

John Cordebef, chaplain, master of the college of St. Gregory, Sudbury, and the brethren there are bound to the prior and convent of the Holy Trinity, Norwich, in a certain annual pension of 5s. on account of the foundation of the college. Dated in the college, 8 Kl. Feb. (25 Jan.), 1375/6.

CRANSFORD. John, the abbot, and convent of Sybeton grant leave to John, bishop of Norwich, to constitute a vicarage in the church of Cransford (Cranesford), Norwich diocese appropriated to them by him, and to have the right of presentation to the same. Dated the 12 Kl. Novemb. (21 Oct.), 1309.

SYBETON (Abbey of). A confirmation by Henry, bp. of Norwich, of the privileges of the abbot and convent of Sybeton at his visitation, they having exhibited their muniments, &c. for the appropriations of the churches of Sibton (Sybeton) with the chapel of Peasenhall (Pesenhale), Cransford (Cranisford), Rendham, Westleton, and Tunstall. Dated 22 January, 1394. [Copies of both Ch. Suffolk 235 and 236]

Sir Andrew Bures, kt., appoints sir Richard Tappell (?) of Wykk his attorney to give seisin of certain land in Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld) to ... [Entirely effaced!] Dated at Acton (Aketon) ..., 31 Ed. III.

⟨Acton (?)⟩ John, son of Joan, daughter of the late Joanle Thek [entirely effaced, ⟨see ch.⟩ 250] of Acton (Aketon) , remits and quit-claims to Thomas Fraunce and others all right in a piece of a meadow ... [A large part effaced.] Dated Sunday next after the feast of St. Hilary, . . Ed. [III? II?].

Laurence Porterose of Long Melford (Melford), .... Sextayn of Aketon, chaplain, John Ormelewe, cutter, of Lound, and Peter Webbe of Acton (Aketon) quit-claim to Roger le Reve of ..., William Bertellor and Roger Pecke of Long Melford (Melford), all their right in all lands and tenements, rents and services in Acton (Aketon), Great Waldingfield, and Sudbury. Dated at Acton (Aketon) the Monday next after the feast of St. Dionisius, 10 Rich. II (15 Oct. 1386).

BOXSTEAD. Cecilia, daughter and heir of sir William Giffard, kt., jun., came here in court the Wednesday next after the octave of the Holy Trinity, and inrolled a charter dated at Boxted (Boxstede) the Monday next after the feast of St. Barnabas, 36 Ed. III (13 June 1362), by which she quit-claimed to Stephen Bacoun and Beatrice his wife all her right in the manor with the advowson of the church of Boxted (Boxstede) and all the lands which they hold in Hartest (Hertherst) and Glemsford (Glemusford).

COCKFIELD. Final concord, dated at Weston on the morrow of the Ascension, 33 Ed. I (1305), between Nicholas de Cokfeld, plaintiff, and Robert de Wytheringdenne and Margaret his wife, and John le Rede and Milicent his wife, deforciants, by which they acknowledge the right of the said Nicholas to ten acres of land in Cockfield (Cokfeld), for which the said Nicholas gives 40s.

EDWARDSTON, &c. John Adam of Edwardstone (Edwardston) grants to John Westone of Newton (Newetone) and Alice his wife all his tenements &c. in the villages of Edwardstone (Edwardeston), Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld ) and Little Waldingfield (Little Waldingield), Milden (Meldyng), Groton (Grotene), and Milden (Meldyng). Dated at Edwardstone (Edwardeston) the last day of Jan., 15 Rich. II (31 Jan. 1392).

John Schepherd of Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld) and Thomas Smyth of Colne grant to Roger Potter of Edwardstone (Edwardeston) and others all their lands and tenements in the village and fields of Edwardstone (Edwardeston) and Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld). Dated at Edwardstone (Edwardiston) the Monday in Easter week, 22 Rich. II (31 March 1399).

Robert Honden of Glemsford (Glemesford) grants to John, son of Richard Aylyth of the same place, and Beatrice his wife, one piece of meadow in Glemsford (Glemesford). Dated at Glemsford (Glemesford) ... 9 Ed. II. [Mutilated]

John, son of Robert Honeden of Glemsford (Glemesford) , grants to Geoffrey de Heneys and Matilda his daughter one piece of arable land in Glemsford (Glemesford). Dated at Glemsford (Glemesford) the Sunday next after the feast of St. Michael, 17 Ed. II (2 Oct. 1323).

LAVENHAM. Writ of King Edward III to the bailiff of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund), reciting a grant to Robert de Veer, earl of Oxford, releasing his tenants &c. of his manor of Lavenham from paying toll throughout the kingdom, and commanding the bailiff (as often before) not to molest or distrain for toll when the said tenants shall come to Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund)'s. Tested at Windsor Castle (Windsor), 22 Feb., 4 of his reign (1330). Noted at the foot, "Nota dorsum cedule contra istud breve plane", and on the back is a recital of priviledges granted to the abbey of St. Edmund by Hen. I, to which this writ is said to be contrary.
