Judgement. Wigan (Lancashire). 17 Ed. II (1324). . Judgement (from the Plea Rolls of 17 Ed. II) against Robert de Cliderhou, parson of Wigan, who had supplied Thomas, earl of Lancaster, with two men at arms (one being his own son Adam) and four foot soldiers well armed, against the king and of preaching publicly in his church on behalf of the earl. He is found guilty, is bailed in 1000 marks by thirteen persons and at last fined (but the amount of the fine is lost) (copy, in the reign of Ed. III).

Grant. Evesham, Benedictine abbey. Monday next after the feast of All Saints, 5 Rich. II (1381). . Indenture made between the abbot of Evesham of the one part, and Nicholas de Stafford of the other, being a grant of the wardship of Hugh, son of Hugh de Wrottesleye and Isabella his wife, until full age, for the lands etc. held of the abbey in Wrottesleye. Dated at Evesham (French).

Fine. Tidmington (Worcestershire) (manor). Quindene of St. Michael, 8 Ed. II (1314). . Fine made at Westminster, between Simon de Crombe and Joan his wife, plaintiffs, by Henry de Wenlond, their attorney, and Thomas le Botiller, defendant, concerning the manor of Tidilmynton with appurtenances, and one messuage, one carucate of land, and 10 marks of annual rent in Admundescote; by which the property is re-conveyed to the said Simon and Joan and their heirs.

Grant. Coulton (Yorkshire, North Riding) (manor), South Holme (Yorkshire, North Riding) (manor). Thursday next before Palm Sunday, 17 Rich. II. (1394). . Two deeds by which Brian Stapilton, Thomas Colvill, David de . . . if, John de Pykeryng, William de Sproxton, and Robert de . . . grant their manors of Caul[ton?] and Southolme in Ridale to Alice de Kirkeby, which manors they had by feoffment of Thomas de Etton of Gilling. Petition. Radstone (Northamptonshire) (manor). [9 Ed. II, 1315-1316?] (1316). . Petition of Antony de Lucy and John de Multon of Egermond to the king and his council against John de Claveryng concerning the manor of Rodeston [French].

Title. Southampton (Hampshire). St. Dunstan's day, 1390 (1390). . Title of Henry Seman to three tenements in Estrete [East Street] in the suburb of Southampton by descent from Felicia Cole.

Return for taxation. Canterbury, province, York, province. [1327-1377] (1377). . Document headed 'Nomina abbatum et prioratum certificantium literatorie et curie romanie valor monasteriorum eorundem secundum eandem certificationem' ; consisting of a list of religious houses in the Provinces of Canterbury and York, with amounts of money alongside each, perhaps assessments of value. The document is identified in the Catalogue of Charters as 'a return, temp. Edward III for taxation '; if so, the relevant tax has not yet been identified.

Proceedings in a suit. Radstone (Northamptonshire) (manor). [9 Ed. II, 1315-1316] (1316). . Proceedings in a suit for the recovery of the manor of Rodeston between Antony de Lucy and John de Multon of Egermond, plaintiffs, and John de Claveryng, defendant.

Letters patent, dated at Westminster, granting to the abbot of Jorevall a licence in mortmain to hold six messuages, one bovate, and 23 acres of land with appurtenances in Est Witton, Overelyngton, and Hoton-hang in the county of York, given by William de Thornton, vicar of Est Wytton, for providing a chaplain to celebrate daily in the church of B. M. of Jorevall for ever (mutilated).

Assignment. Fountains Abbey (Cistercian). Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, 6 Rich. II (1382). . Indenture tripartite witnessing that Richard de Ravenser, archdeacon of Lincoln, John de Ravenser, parson of the church of Algarkirk, and John de Waltham, canon of Hereford, assign to the abbot and convent of Fonteyns the manor of Queldryk [Wheldrake] which was formerly William Darell's, with 8 messuages, 19 tofts, 180 acres of land, 14 acres of meadow, 14 acres of wood, 100 acres of more, 6s. 1d. and one pair of gloves annual rent in Queldryk, upon condition that the said abbot and convent pay to the master and brethren of the hospital of St. Leonard, York, 16 marks annually for the support of certain charges imposed upon them by the donors. Chirograph witnessing that Ralph de Monthermer, earl of Gloucester, after the death of Herbert de St. Quintin, who held the manors of Frome, co. Dorset, and Stauntun Quintin, co. Wiltshire, of him in capite, on the petition of Margery his widow, assigns to her for her dower lands in Staunton Quintin and Frome, equivalent to the third parts of the said manors. Dated at Staunton Quintin (slightly mutilated).

Writ, plea of mort d'ancestor. York, Benedictine abbey of St. Mary. Friday in the quindene of the Purification B. M., 30 Ed. fil. Hen. [Ed. I] (1302). . Leaf with copies of "placita libertatis" of the abbey held at the gate of the abbey "in presencie domini E. Principis Wallie tunc per duos dies in abbathiam [sic] commorantis", viz. (1) writ of the King to the justices ordering please to be held at the abbey gate as claimed, dated at Lynlyscu [Linlithgow], 22 Dec. an. 30 [1301], and (2) Plea of mort d'ancestor in the case of John de Schupton v. Matilda de Munketon.

Indenture of agreement. Newhouse, abbey of Premonstratensian canons. [c. Michaelmas [29 September], 39 Ed. III] (1365). . Indenture of agreement made between the abbot and convent of Neuhous, and William de Sibertoft, 'corrodarius' of the said abbot and convent, demising to the said William the manors of Akerholes and Wykehame, with the lands, meadows, and pastures pertaining to the same, excepting those meadows and pastures retained for the flocks of the abbot and convent and tenants' rents and the profits of the courts; to hold the same together with all horses, bulls, and cows, and other animals and things existing in the said manors, to the said William, from the feast of St. Michael, 39 Ed. III, until the end of five years, at an annual rent of 40s. and the share of corn for two or three shepherds, according to the custom of the country, and other conditions as to the repair of all the houses at Akerholes and Wykehame, etc.

Power of attorney from Gerard de Ufflete, kt, Gerard Sothill, John Kirkeby, and Thomas Spenser to Gilbert de Lincoln and Thomas Sandale to deliver seisin to Richard, son of Robert Haunsard, kt., and Joan his wife, of the manor of Blaktoft.

Petition. Swanscomb (Kent) (manor), Painswick (Gloucestershire) (manor), Goodrich Castle (Herefordshire) (manor). [1326-7] (1327). . Petition of Richard, son of Gilbert Talebot, and Elizabeth his wife ("sa compaigne") to the king and his council, complaining of the Hugh le Despensers (father and son) having seized the said Elizabeth and imprisoned her at Purebricke in Surrey and obtained by force a deed conveying the manor of Swannescompe; and having likewise forced her by threats before John de Bousser, one of the justices, to ensure to them the manor of Payneswyk in Glouc. and of Castle Godrich, and then before William de Clyf, a clerk in Chancery, are bound to them in £20,000, which bond was enrolled in Chancery. They pray therefore redress (French). Endorsed with notes of orders theron (largely illegible).

Writ from King Edward II to John de Bousser to go personally to Elizabeth Comyn because she is so infirm that she cannot without great danger attend at Westminster, and receive from her acknowledgement of the fine to be levied in the king's bench between herself and Hugh le Despenser, jun., concerning the castle and manor of Castel Goderich, etc. Dated at Beaulieu.

Writ from the king to the justices of the Bench, setting forth the grant by his letters patent to the abbot and convent of Neuhous of a licence in mortmain, to enable them to hold 8 messuages, 7 bovates, and the third part of one bovate of land in Kelingholme, given to them by William, son of Robert de Welton of Brothesby, parson of the church of Baynton. Dated at St. [John's, i.e. Perth].

Petition. Builth Castle (Breconshire), Builth (Breconshire) (manor). [temp. Hen. IV] (1413). . Petition of Walter de la Pole and Elizabeth his wife, great-granddaughter of Thomas de Bradestone, to the king [Hen. IV] that he would make [...] of a grant of 500 marks made to the said Thomas for sustaining the estate of banneret by the king's great-grandfather King Edward ; the said king having pledged his castle of Thlanveir and lordship of Buelt in South Wales, formerly held by Alice, Countess of Lincoln, for her life for this payment.

Demise. Nostell, Augustinian priory. Feast of St. Martin in the winter, 1374 (1374). . Indenture witnessing that the prior and convent of St. Oswald of Nostell demised to Robert Dany, vicar of Bustall [Birstal], and Robert Swepstak of Westerton, their manor of Bustall, called the rectory, with appurtenances for 20 years, at an annual rent of 53s. 4d. Dated at Folby.

Confirmation. Bolton, Augustinian priory. 15 Dec., 9 Ed. II (1315). . Confirmation by [Thomas earl of Lancaster of the charter of William, son of Gilbert de Rither, granting to the church of St. Mary Boultoun and the canons there one toft in the village of Rither in a place which is called Hill, and one plot of land, and 11 acres in the fields of Rither hill and Doggethorp. Dated at his castle of Pontefract [French, mutilated in the first line].

Fine. Goodrich Castle (Herefordshire), Goodrich Castle (Herefordshire) (manor). Morrow of the Ascension [17 May], 18 Ed. II (1325). . Fine made at Westminster on the morrow of the Ascension, 18 Ed. II, by which Elizabeth Comyn acknowledges the right of Hugh le Despenser jun., to the castle and manor of Castel Godrich, with appurtenances in the marches of Wales, for which the said Hugh gave 500 sterling.

Grant. Hatterboard (Yorkshire, North Riding). Sunday next after the feast of St. William, 1339 (1339). . Indenture (caled "indentate", but not indented) witnessing that Sir William Bruys, kt., grants to Sir Alexander de Bergh, kt., the whole of his land in the village and territory of Haterbergh, paying annually to the said William and his heirs 13s 4d. Dated at Haterbergh, near Scardeburgh.
