Letters patent of Edward I confirming Magna Carta and the Charter of the Forest. Dated at Lincoln. 14 Feb. ⟨1301.⟩ On the folded-over strip at the bottom is “Oxon’, et examinat’ per A. de Osgoteby”, in a hand of about the same date.

Consequent upon a visitation, John de Backyngton, doctor of decrees and Commissary of the bp. of Lincoln, grants to Osney Abbey all their churches and chapels with their tithes, to their own use. ⟨19 Nov.⟩ 1397.

Cutteslowe, co. Oxon. The prior of St. Frideswide is bound to the abbot of Osney in £100 to stand to the agreement of 1376. [See St. Frideswide’s Cart. ii. 212–13]. 14 March ⟨1386⟩

Stone, co. Bucks. Elyas vicar of Wycombe, Ralph Hale, and John Wortone grant, by a fine, to John Bracy and Alienor his wife land in Stone and Hertewelle, for their lives. The abbot of Waltham and the Dean of London, executors for the tenth announce that Jacob Gilii, partner and proctor of Philip Burgy de Mozi, John Grandoni, partner and proctor of Philip Gerardini de Spini, and John Aldebrandini de Clarentino, merchants of the papal chamber, have received from Osney Abbey £115 by the hands of brother Hugh de Comptone, their fellow canon and proctor, in part payment. ⟨15 Nov.⟩ 1301.

Letters patent of Edward I, acknowledging the receipt of 53/11¾ of arrears of the tenth from Osney Abbey subcollectors, paid by the hands of John de Aysshtone, sheriff of Northampton, into the wardrobe for the abbot &c., of Suleby. 6 July ⟨1305⟩ Given at Canterbury.

Memd. that brother William of Brisingham, on behalf of Osney Abbey subcollectors of the tenth, [apparently paid in £600]. Deposition S. Hugh. 1313. Given in the Cathedral at Lincoln. [Mutilated.]

The bps. of Lincoln and London, collectors of the tenth, have received £8/4/2 of arrears from Osney Abbey subcollectors by the hands of William de Brusingham. 18 Nov. 1314.

The abbot of Reading, collector of the tenth, has received from Osney Abbey [amounts as in O. 1118]. Given at Reading. ⟨12 Feb.⟩ 1317.

The abbot of Reading, collector of the tenth in the Archdeaconries of Berkshire and Wiltshire, has received 2/4 from Osney Abbey for the church of Ledecumbe Basset, 2/8 for the church of Pusye, 12d. for the church of Ardintone, 20d. for the church of Harewelle, 2/-, for the church of Waneford; for temporalities in Sottewelle 1¼d., in the parish of All Saints ½d., in the parish of St. Peter’s 5½d. Given at Reading. ⟨4 June.⟩ 1317.

Thomas of Stowe and Richard de Bello, collectors of the tenth, announce that Osney Abbey, having incurred suspension of the greater excommunication for not paying the second half of the tenth, have now made satisfaction, viz: ⟨5 March⟩ 1319.

Richard de Hunsingor’, Official of Galhardi de Mora, archdeacon of Oxford, and collector of 4d. in the mark, has received 57/8 from Osney Abbey for the churches in the Archdeaconry of Oxford. Given at Oxford. ⟨23 May⟩ 1325.

The abbot of Burton-on-Trent, subcollector of the tenth in the Archdeaconry of Chester, Derby, Shrewsbury and Stafford, has received 16/8 from Osney Abbey for the church of Schenstone, and 6/8¾ for their temporalities in the Archdeaconry of Stafford, for the second term of the third year of the said tenth.
