Ledger, grant in frankalmoigne. York, Benedictine abbey of St. Mary. [temp. Ed. I] (1307). . Nine leaves from an old ledger book of the church of St. Mary, York (formerly in Hatton library), of which the last four, written by a second hand, are numbered by a 15th cent. hand, 55, 56, 59, 60, having several grants entered upon them, including: (nn) Grant by Nigel Fossard to the monks of St. Mary’s, York, of the church of St. Crux in York, the church of Doncaster and 16 messuages there, 1 carucate in Kymundesale (in Loversall ?), 5 bovates of land in Marr, 1 carucate in Warmsworth, 2 carucates in West Cottingwith, the church of Hutton Cranswick with 1 carucate, 3 carucates in Thornton-le-Clay and the church of Bainton with 1 carucate and its tithes, the grantor’s tithes in and around Doncaster and 4 carucates of land in Caythorpe, c. 1100-1115.
