Broughton.. The rectors of Bolton in Lowland and Marton in Craven have, on the receipt of letters from John archbishop of York (given at his manor of Ripon, 21 Aug. 1442), ascertained by inquisition in the church of Skipton (27 Aug. 1442) that the church of Broughton which John Thewayt Esq. wished to give to the priory of B⟨olton⟩ , is worth, in land, 40/-, and in tithes &c. £13/6/4: that it should pay to the archbishop 14/2, to the King for a tenth 20/6, and that there are many burdens which they cannot estimate. [Items composing the tithes &c. are specified.] Names of the jurors: Richard More, vicar of Preston in Craven , Robert Newall, vicar of Otlay , Thomas Ben’, vicar of Carlton in Craven , John Kirkby , Richard Pacok , William Welle ’, chaplains; William Garegrave , Richard Pudsay , Henry Young , John Alcok , John Calio ’, William Ben ’, laymen.
