Clapcote. Gilbert son of Adam the cooper grants to John of Devonshire that messuage in C⟨lapcote⟩ which R. treasurer of the Hospital [of S. John] with the consent of the chapter confirmed to Adam the cooper, father of the said Gilbert. Rent 12d. to the hospital and 1d. to Gilbert and his heirs. For this John gave him 16 marks. Witnesses: James capellanus de opido, Robert de Bavra , Thomas of Devonshire , Henry de porta , Walter son of Henry , Roger balistarius , John son of Adam the cooper , Asketil the dyer . ⟨c. 1220–30.⟩
