Higham. 1387. Grant from John Lilye of Barrow (Barwe), to Thomas of Heigham, jun., of Higham (Heigham), John of Heigham, vicar of Gazeley (Gaysle), Robert Warner of the same, and John Magarde, chaplain, of 2 messuages with 8 acres of arable land in the vill and fields of Heigham: one messuage with 6 acres of land, in an adjacent croft, called Harschankescrofts, lies in the vill of Heigham between the messuage of the Earl of Stafford, once held by Andrew Proudsfote, and that once held by Baroune, with one end abutting on 'le Nertoungreue'; the other, called 'Clerkes', with half an acre of land, in a croft adjoining Fouches the messuage of John Lote on both sides, with one end abutting on the highway: half an acre of land lies in Schortecrofte, next to the land of John Aleyn, and abuts thereon: and one acre lies in the field called Punchefelde, next to the land once held by Richard atte Monkes, on the north. Dated, at Higham (Heigham) on Monday [19 Aug] after the feast of Assumption of the B.V.M., 11 Ric. II [1387]. Witnesses: Thomas of Clare, Thomas Baldoke, John Picchese, Nicholas Talyour, William Pope, and others. The seal is wanting.
