STOKE (South), Oxon. Thomas de Stokes grants to the church and canons of Oseney, in frankalmoigne, one half acre of arable land in the field of Stokes, which lies near the grove of the said canons at Appelhanger, and extends in length from east to west. Witn. Geoffrey Marmion , William Marmion his brother, etc. (c. 1240-50.) .
