BARTON (Westcote). Report of proceedings by the abbot of Eynsham and the dean of Oxford upon a commission from Pope Honorius III, dated 4 Non. December, 5th pontifical year (1220), directed to the abbot of Eynsham, the prior of St. Frideswide, and the dean of Oxford, directing them to hear and determine a cause between the abbot and Convent of Oseney, and the abbot and convent of Lyra, concerning two parts of the tithes of the lordship of Robert Arsic in Little Barton, claimed from the abbey of Fiscamp (who appeared by their proctor Roger prior of Coges ) by the abbot and convent of Oseney as belonging to the church of Great Barton. After much discussion, an agreement was come to by which the said abbot and convent of Oseney were admitted into actual possession of the tithes on condition of paying annually to the prior of Cogges at Oseney the sum of l0s.
