Robert Foliot of Rollesham , with the assent of William his son and heir, grants to Henry the clerk, son of Richard de Sandon , for his homage and service, one virgate of land in Berton, viz. that which Gilbert son of Nicholas held there, and 32 acres of land in the same village, namely, in the south field, 12 acres of land with the whole of the meadow which Hugh de Wotton held, and 1 acre at Suckelawe, and in Portweie one half acre, and in Brodeweiesende one acre, and at Grenesdich half an acre, and at Langelawe one acre, also in the north field 14 1/2 acres with the whole of the meadow which the said Hugh de Wotton held, and beyond the path towards Tiwa one acre, and in Caglesmere half an acre; paying annually to him and his heirs 8d. at Michaelmas and 12d. for scutage. (c. 1210-20.) .
