Odo, son of Umfrey de Berton , grants to Roger, son of Hugh de Woton , for his homage and service, one virgate of land in Berton, which William the Irishman [Hiberniensis] held also one acre below and two acres above the bridge of Sanford, for an annual service of 3s. For this grant the said Roger gave half a mark of silver, and to Odo's son John two shillings. (c. 1200-10.) .
