CHILTON. Gilebert Karbunel grants to Geoffrey his brother the whole of his land of Chilton (Chiltune), with two men of Middleton (Middeltune) pertaining to the same land, for his service and homage and his money, viz. gold and silver, which he gave to him; with covenants for an exchange should the grantor marry and have a son, and deside to make an exchange. (c. 1170-80.)
