Indenture witnessing that whereas William Warde of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), chaplain, grants and by a certain charter confirms to John Rothe, brasier and Richard Rothe of Carleton, clerk, two tenements within the borough of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), near the great market-place, viz. in 'le Smytherowe,' they are bound to the payment of £20 by certain instalments. Dated at Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), 8 January, 4 Hen. V (1417).
