William Maymond, master of the hospital of St. Nicholas of St. Edmund, and the brethren there, grant to Alan, son of Alan Grene of Swanton , one acre and one rood of land lying in the fields of the town ("villa") of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund), in a place called 'le Spynthelfeld', in exchange for an acre without the east gate. Dated at Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund) the Tuesday on the feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin, 17 Ed. III (25 March 1343). Witn. Ralp. le Taillour, alderman, Richard de Wellham and John de Honyngham, bailiffs
