Robert le Rus of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund) grants to Nicholas de Neketune, burgess of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund), for his fidelity and for 7 marks in hand paid, 9s. of annual quit-rent from a shop in the street called 'La Rue Marchaunde.' (c. 1250-60.) Witn. William de Carge and Jocey de Walepole, bailiffs Geoffrey fitz-Robert alderman.
