A certificate by Thomas ⟨Arundel⟩ , archbp. of York , that it is found in the register of John de Thoresby his predecessor, that Thomas de Saltmersse, acolyte, the Saturday on the vigil of St. Matthew, apostle, 1371, in the parish church of St. Mary, the old York, was ordained sub-deacon, on the vigil of St. Thomas ap. in the same year deacon and the Saturday in the first week of Lent, same year and place, was ordained presbyter by the venerable Richard, "servien. ep." then suffragan, on the title of the house of the nuns of Nunapilton. Dated at York, 12 June, 1392.
