Ralph, the abbot, and the convent of Kyrkestall confirm to Reiner de Pontefr[act] and his heirs their messuage in Pontefract which sir Robt. de Laci gave them for an inn ("pro hospicio habendo"), paying annually one stone of wax at the Assumption B. M. V., the light at the altar of the church; reserving the use of the house for their "hospicium" when they visit the place. (c. 1182-1190.) .
