HOWGRAVE. John de Londoniis grants to Robert de Coyngners all lands and tenements which he holds by right of dowry of Joan his wife, formerly wife of Robert de Melmorby , in the village of Hougrave, and his wife resigns her right in case of survival by oath sworn upon the Holy Gospels in the church of B. Wilfrid of Rypon. Dated at Rypon the Friday next before the feast of St. Mary Magdalene, 1339. Witness, John de Clotherom, bailiff of the liberty of Rypon , etc.
