Chirograph, written by the hand of Samson de Albineio of a composition between the church of Fountains and the church of Messaham for the annual payment by the former to the latter for the Easter light of 6d. worth of wax for the tithe of land called Aldeburch, ...(?) a payment because there was not much arable land there when it was first given to the monks, but afterwards they sowed almost the whole. (c. 1140-50.)
