BILLINGHURST. Robert le Franceys of Billingehurst grants to the church of St. Bartholomew of the Causeway, Arundel, in frankalmoigne, certain parcels of land in Billingehurst, called Wesertonfeld, Istertonfeld, Garston [&c] with the homage and service of Bartholomeus the chaplain of Billingehurst and of Adam de la Fraunceys and a rent of 12d, for the sum of 40s "ad magnum negocium meum". (c. 1250-60.)
