CAMBRIDGE (Hospital of St. John the Evangelist). William de Gosefeld, master of the Hosp. St. John Evang . , and the brethren of the same , in consideration of the charity, &c., moving John, bishop of Ely, in allowing the hospital to elect their own master so often as a vacancy occurs, agree that he and his successors shall participate in all their prayers, &c., for ever, and that they will offer at the shrine of St. Etheldreda a wax candle of three pounds weight - in case of default distraint to be made upon their lands or possessions, or upon the rectory of Hornyngestrete. Dated 13 Jan., 1332.
